Shanghai 10

Had dinner at Shanghai 10 on the 1st of January 2007. Heard of this place quite some time ago and finally, that day, I manage to persuade Ming to try their food. Gary, Ah Mun and Ah Loon was with us too..

Have you guys realised lately that Shanghai Cuisine restaurants are opening like a pig giving birth? So many restaurants of the same sorts.. Getting so over rated. I mean the food la..

What's so nice about Shanghai 10?? Let's see..

It's located at the corner of Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar. Very easy to find.
(that's Ming, in black!)

World Famous Shanghai Soup Dumpling... Famous, but not BEST.

Their signature Shanghai Double Boiled Soup Dumpling. (Siu Long Bao)

It's quite big. Taste yummy too. But not as yummy as I've expected tho. They said a perfect Siu Long Bao will not break when you pick up with a chopstick and the soup will remain inside nicely. But this one, it breaks. Hmm.. But it's tasty too.

I forgot what this dish called. I think it's jellyfish..

Very chewy.. Nice also-lah

Stir Fried Rice Flour Roll with Spicy Sauce.

Sounds special? It's actually fried chee cheung fun.

Shanghai Special Fried Bean Sheet.
Tasty too. Tastes like char kuey tiao but more chewy.

Shanghai Dumpling La Mian.
At first we thought the La Mian is handmade by their chef, but then it's not.. It's just the normal machine-made noodle. The noodle is only so-so. But the dumpling was yummy~

Shanghai Water Pan-Fried Dumpling. (Wo Tip)
This Wo Tip is not bad also. But I still prefer Esquire Kitchen's Wo Tip.

Shanghai Water Pan-Fried Dumpling.
This dish, I thought it will taste like the Siu Long Bao... But then the bun's flour is not fully cooked at the tip of the bun. But the meat's taste is on la.. Just that I personally feel that they should fried the whole bun instead of just the bottom. Same goes to the Wo Tip.

Beancurd Rolls with Prawn, Squid and Cheese.
This was yummy too.. Skin is not so thick, lotsa fillings.

So overall, I'd give 6.5/10 for the food. Service is not bad too. Chinese tea were free flow. So we sat there from 6pm til I think around 9pm.. hehe.. All because of the free flow Chinese tea. =P

However, the employee there are not so tidy looking tho. And I saw something very embarassing while we're eating.
A guy, wearing a coat, which I supposed is the manager there, were yelling at the waitress. He was sitting quite far, about 20feet away from us, at the table. I heard something like.. "Who say can sit? Ha?? Who said you can sit??" Then the waitress mumbled something and he keep on repeating the same thing, "You tell me, who said you can do that? bla.. bla..." I can't really hear what he was yelling about... Then the waitress just turned and walked away after he finished.
I just stared at him with a disgusted look.
How can you scold your employee in front of everybody?? I mean in public??
This will drop the image of the restaurant and it's not professional and it's unethical too. He should pull her into the back of house and talk to her privately. Not shouting so loud like that.. Some more it's dinner time.. Quite a lot of people there too... And he just stared at me back when I gave him that you're-just-a-fucking-ass-licking-manager look. Shame on you!

Ugh... Very lazy to type d... Ciaoz!
