When a person lives in fear...
Wednesday, September 21, 2011
What is the right thing to do?
Living the mediocre life where you will be accepted by majority or living the blissful life where you will be out casted by them?
No matter which one you choose, at the end of the day, there’ll still be unhappiness.
But let’s just put the unhappiness aside and think.
Why do we need approval from the whole world of what we do? Who set the rules of what is accepted and what is not? Just because majority doesn’t think that it’s right doesn’t makes it wrong, no?
It’s easy to say that we don’t have to care what others says, as long as we do what we think is right for us and just be happy. But who are we kidding when we say that we shouldn’t care? Deep down inside, we cared a lot about others opinion. We cared about how others see us. We give a lot of damn about how others judge us. We cared because we’re all egoistic. Though in actual fact, really, no matter what you do, others opinions are not important. How they see us is really up to them. How they want to be judgmental is really none of our business. So it all goes back to the point… just don’t fucking care. Because at the end of the day, they too, don’t give a fuck after they voiced out what’s in their mind. They don’t give a fuck after saying hurtful things, scaring you with the worst possible thing that they imagined could happen to you. They just don’t give a fuck cos they’re just being courteous or trying to show that they’re being modest. So after all that, what will happen? Nothing. Everyone will go back to where they are. Overtime, they will forget what they said to you. They won’t remember whatever things that happened to you. Because they are not you. They don’t go through the shit that you’re experiencing.
So, happy or not, is not others to judge but ourselves.

The Pursuit Of Happiness
Was Gtalking with a friend just now and he asked, “Is happiness more than family?” well, the answer is quite subjective. Some might think happiness is family, while some, freedom is happiness. Of course, to some, money is happiness but to some, as long as their stomach is filled, it’s happiness. There are a lot of ways to define happiness and it’s different for each individual. Some might think that as long as they have a lot of money, they will be happy and their family will be happy too. But when one gets too obsessed with making money, they tend to neglect a lot of things around them. Like family and friends tho they thought money can make family happy and friends will be happy for them but in many cases, it backfired. And they will soon realise that they are actually not happy.
There are also people who think that it’s not important to have expensive clothes, big houses and nice cars because all they wish for is good health and integrity. I’m not saying that rich people don’t have integrity, it’s all different topic altogether. Let’s focus on the former. They’re happy with what they have even if they are no match with the higher society. However, people around them will say that they have no goals in their life; they don’t strive for the best and that they are just plain lazy to make some money. At the end of the day, their children might blame them for not giving them the best things in the world, which will lead the child to thinking that money is happiness and it leads them to become like what I wrote in the first paragraph.
As for some people, freedom is happiness. They don’t want anything to get in their way to achieve their kind of happiness, which is carefree and no strings attached so they can do anything as they like as long as nobody is there to stop them from doing so. They don’t care about money, they don’t care about family, all they care is about themselves. All these attitudes will make people around them angry. Angry that they’re irresponsible. Angry that they’re selfish.
A normal person will put family as their first priority and for them, happiness comes from family. Nothing is more important than family, or so they thought. Which sometimes, will make the people around them think that they’re too overprotective and old-fashioned. At the end of the day, their family hate them for being a control freak.
So in every happiness that they pursue, there are definitely sadness and negative things that will happen along the way or at the end of the pursuit. So the conclusion? It’s all about balance. We cannot change how people prefer the way they make their own happiness. We cannot stop them from thinking the way they are. Most importantly, we have to ask ourselves, are the people around me happy? Am I happy knowing that they are? Should I? Do I have to care so much?
We are all human. Sometimes, we just need to be a lil bit selfish. Sometimes, we just need to let go off that grudge.
To you who might be reading this, I hope you’ll be happy. You know we’re all here to support you.

Ideal Guy
I’m sure every girl has an Ideal Guy in their mind. But somehow, we’re living in reality, so mostly likely, we’ll settle for the Closest-To-Our-Ideal guy. Just like my case, Smelly is not exactly ideal, but somewhat ideal. Let me share why I say so and tell how/what is MY Ideal Guy (in no particular order). [note why I say “somewhat” in the brackets / or maybe it’s just some excuses for me to say he’s ideal cos I’m living in denial. Wtf.]

addicted to books all over again?
so i've been away (from blogging) for some time now. actually, i'm still procrastinating on getting a card reader to transfer all the photos. and been too busy about many things lately. and oh... i've almost forgot how addictive reading is. until i picked up Twilight. i finished reading Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse in just 4 days. what an achievement. at last (and at least) i don't feel too guilty about what i've bought months ago.. probably years ago.
i wanna talk about this Twilight thingy.
seriously.. the book is WAY better than the movie though. the movie is good actually, but then if you read the book before the movie, you'll think that the movie screwed up all the timeline and all. luckily i watched the movie before i read the book. lol.
anyway...
i liked Bella in Twilight. but not in New Moon and Eclipse. she's such a hypocrite. a traitor. it seems to me that she betrayed her love. she betrayed Edward. she betrayed Edward's love. Edward's love for her. i mean.. she so indecisive! and i hate that fact that she actually SAID that she love Jacob! ugh.. (it made me feels so... so ME. well, not entirely but her selfishness. her greediness. ugh.)
maybe i'm just too biased towards Edward. maybe the author purposely do that. you know...
i don't know what i'm talking about now. but just.. i just feel sorry for Edward. how can he love someone who love someone else too, at the same time? it bugs me.
New Moon is very VERY draggy for my liking. maybe it's just because i prefer vampires over werewolves. Eclipse is so-so only. i began to feel that the author likes to drag. and then full stop. ending already.
i just started reading the last book, Breaking Dawn, just an hour ago. still very excited cos Bella and Edward is getting married. i hope the last book is not as draggy as the second and third book though..
hmm.. what shall i read after this?

Ching Ming aka Grave Sweeping Day.
Throat inflammation again. It hurt so bad every morning when I woke up. A bit itchy too.
I think it’s because I haven’t had enough proper rest lately.
Coughing badly too. But no phlegm came out.
Oh.. and this “package” comes with constant headache too. I think it’s what Chinese always refers as: “gah foh” direct translation: fake fire? I’m not sure what it’s called in English. Do they even have a term for it at the first place? Ugh.. never mind.
Went to Mambau, I think it’s between Seremban and Port Dickson, to visit my Grampa’s grave on Saturday because Ching Ming ,the day we visit graves of our ancestors to clean their tombs. Dad told me and brother it’s their “New Year”, cos for us, we clean our house for Chinese New, so we have to sweep the grave as clean as possible too..
We departed at 6.30a.m, and reached there around 7.45a.m. There were so many people there compared to last year we went. Dad told it’s because last year, we went a month earlier cos it’s the first year Grampa “celebrated” Ching Ming. Last year, there were some Indonesian workers there offering to clean the graves for us (for RM50), but this year, we saw no signs of them. Perhaps they’re busy with other graves. Dad told us it’s a tradition that we need to pass on to our next generation next time. Dad doesn’t really know the complete (and original) ritual cos Grampa came from China and our ancestors are all buried in China. We just simply brought some food and a bottle of Guinness Stout (Grampa’s favourite)for offerings and also some stuff (clothes and “hell money”) that we burn for Grampa. Some people there even brought firecrackers and burn it in front of their ancestors’ grave. It’s really like a celebration.
It’s a believe that praying to our ancestors (most Chinese have an altar for ancestors besides other Gods statues at home) brings good luck to next generations. Dad told me that his brother in China (different mother) who prays to our ancestors and clean their graves during Ching Ming, is doing very well now, compared to another brother who doesn’t. It’s kinda sad that dad never been to China for a visit to our ancestors’ graves as most people usually will go back to their origin country for a visit. At least we (the next generation) knows where our ancestors were buried.
Ming’s mother told me that only the sons can go for Grave Sweeping. Married daughters are not allowed to go, unless they had the permission from their brothers (which I personally think it’s a ridiculous rule). I asked why is it so? Married daughters are still family too, right? She said because married daughter doesn’t carry the same surname anymore, also, they believe (and afraid) that the good luck will be taken away by the daughters. Wtf? Ridiculous, no? I think it is nonsense. I asked my dad the other day and he said for him, it’s okay to have his sisters to visit Grampa. The more the merrier. That tradition/rule is for selfish people to follow/believe. Which, I agree totally. How can you ban married daughters to visit their ancestors? It’s so unfair. And what if that family doesn’t have any sons? Damn sad right?
So back to my story… we reach there quite early but still it’s flooded with people. Luckily the sun is not up so high yet when we reached and still covered by the higher ground so it’s still not too hot. This year, only three of us went. Dad, Desmond and I. (Last year, we had Debb, Fazral and Ben with us). After we finished cleaning, offering and praying, we ate the food. Hehe.
Being the first year cleaning the grave ourselves, we didn’t know what compulsory tools to bring, so we used plastic bag as gloves and newspaper as broom to sweep it. Next year, we’re gonna bring gloves, mini broom/brush and maybe a shovel. We passed by a grave planted with those nice grass, which is quite beautiful. I wanted to take some photos for this visit, but then only realized that I forgot to bring camera and left my phone at home.
Speaking of photos, there are still quite a number of photos sitting in the memory card cos the card reader is spoilt. Oh.. I splurged last weekend too. Gah! But I think it’s a necessity and I don’t really feel bad about it. Report after I get a new card reader.

Pet Peeves.
1) Have you ever driven to a place where there are a few color lines on the road due to construction? Which color should we follow? The yellow line or the white line? The yellow dotted line or the yellow normal line? Or we don’t have to follow at all?
2) I won’t give way to people who cut queue without using signals. I won’t give way to those lansi ngau hai drivers who die die also wanna cut your lane even though no more space to go through.
3) There’s a reason why 2 signals are created for cars. One for left. One for right. If you want to go left, please don’t put right signal and vice versa. And if you are not going to turn anywhere, please don’t turn on your signal at all la.. Make people (especially ME!) confuse only. Cis!
4) If you cannot aim properly, you can sit on the toilet bowl and pee. Why must you (guys) let your sisa-sisa urine drip all over the toilet bowl? And if you really “accidently” dripped on it, just fucking rinse it away lah.. Damn disgusting okay!
5) If you like to squat when you pee, just fucking use the squatting-cubicle lah… why must you (girls) squat ON the toilet bowl? So that other people will get your shoe print on their butt when they sit on it? grr!
6) Is it hard to check before you leave? Why are there drops of blood around the toilet bowl/on the floor? Very disgusting lor… how can you leave the toilet with your blood drip and stain the surrounding AND let other people see it? UGH!
7) I don’t fucking get it.. How can you leave your used sanitary pad lying around in the toilet, unwrapped? Is it so fucking hard to wrap it and throw it in the sanitary bin/dustbin? This is a disgrace to the female species.
8) If you really need to get the phlegm out from your throat, please do it in the toilet. How can you do it so publicly, especially when the person sitting next to your table is having her dinner! Another thing is spitting publicly. And also blowing out your mucous too! Eww… I don’t fucking understand how some people blow it directly to the FLOOR (looked like an arrow come out from the nose some more! ish!!) Cannot use tissue or go to the toilet meh? It’s very disgusting okay! Yer!! I just couldn’t stand it when people blow their nose while I’m eating. Cis!!!
9) I don’t understand why some people don’t give way when we’re in the elevator. There’s so much more space inside, can’t you let other people come in? There are still spaces to fit like… 4-5 people but you chose to stand in front of the door so that people from outside will think that it’s full. Tsk tsk. Selfish people.
10) Busy body that likes to peek at other people’s text message when riding the elevator or the lrt/bus. Don’t you know it’s rude to read other people’s text? You know what I’m texting about meh? Busy body!
11) Blogs with so many similar-pose photos. You get what I mean? Arghh.
12) Those customer service representatives who don’t sound cheerful and doesn’t say “Please hold the line while I transfer your call” when are transferring my call! ARGHH! *pulls hair* NO MANNERS! Some more straightaway transfer my calls without saying ANYTHING and with me haven’t finished saying MY THING! Arghhh…
13) I totally cannot understand why some road signs are placed right BEHIND a tree or worse case; rows of trees, with their branches covered more than HALF of the signboard. What’s the point of putting a sign there if it’s gonna be covered all the time?

Present Talk.
So many updates in a day.
Yea. Because I’m absent minded.
Suddenly, I feel like there are so many things that I just have to say out.
Oh.. Smelly said he’s going to get me a present! It’s been a while since I last received anything from him *hint* =P
Actually it’s supposed to be a secret. He’s like.. “I have something in mind for you. I’m SURE you’re gonna like it!”
I’m like.. “What’s that? Are you SURE I’m going to LIKE it?”
Lol… so after 2 days, he’s like.. “Do you wanna know what I’m going to get you?”
“uhm…. Hehehehehe… *smile sheepishly* uhm… want want!! Uhm.. wait… no.. I don’t want to know yet… er….. ok lah.. I wanna know..!”
I LOVE surprises. But then.. The way he’s SO SURE that I’m going to like it made me think twice. “I’m sure it’s something silly!”
But he reassured me that it’s not and he’s DAMN sure I’ll love it.
Again, when he said he’s sure, the more unsure I was.
“ok lah! Let you see what I’m going to get,” he said, opening the Internet browser and typed ‘T303”.
I wondered for a second what code was that and when I saw the photo, gasp! It’s a a phone…!
Honestly, at first, I thought.. “wow! He’s getting me a phone!” then, he kept giving me this WEIRD smile and said it’s a really nice phone made me suspicious lor… and when I asked him how much does it costs, he lagi gave me this weird cunning smile, “it’s a secret…” I LAGI suspicious.
Then, I went online and checked out the phone.
The phone is a very basic phone and more paria than the one that I’m using lor (in terms of function lah).
Ok, I’m not complaining lah.. but since I still can choose cos he haven’t bought it yet, of course I’ll protest kau kau lah.. right or not? It’s not always that he buy me stuffs.. so tak kan lah want him to waste money on something that I don’t like.. correct??
“The only thing that I liked about the phone is the size.” I told him last night. You damn paria lor.. I don’t want this model… I saw something else.. Can I change? =P”
“The phone is actually very nice lah.. my colleague also using. Not bad lah.”
-_-
“It’s more paria than my phone lor.”
“ok.. which one you want then?”
I blurted out 2 different models. We checked out online and he said it’s not bad too. At least it’s something that I want and need lah. Some more got red color. Woohoo! Smelly said he’s going to get one of the models that I mentioned.
I told him I have something for him too.
Because I cannot keep secret, I told him that I’m going to get him a new monitor. A 22 inch LCD monitor… I asked a friend who’s working in a computer shop roughly how much is the price and I told Smelly.
Like me, he went online and check out cos he don’t believe why it’s so cheap. And like me, he demanded to change model cos the one that I wanted to get is not so good. (we are perfect couple kan? Kan? Sama sama punya perangai. Bleh!)
-_-
Some more his friend so bad lor… encourage him to get a better one… niamah.. 2ms and 5ms response time got a lot different meh? Cis!
I think it’s karma.
Next time when he wanted to get me anything, I won’t ask what it was. Let him buy first so that I have no choice.
Tsk tsk… when people have choices, it will lead to trouble.
But then come to think about it.. It’s a good thing that we didn’t keep it a secret. If not, both of us will end up having something that we don’t like so much.

Today, I received a forwarded email from a friend. The email contains a very huge hint of racism, which IMHO is damn ridiculous and in my opinion, I think these people are just jealous that those restaurants are doing quite well. If they really want to make a remark like that, I hope that they do proper investigation before accusing those restaurants. Here’s the article. Notice the sender’s email? (email sender censored because I don’t want him to be famous). From University of Malaya.

-WHITE COFFEE OLDTOWN Kopitiam,
-NEWTOWN Kopitiam
-WHITE HOUSE Kopitiam
-PAK HAINAN Kopitiam
-JOM BALI Kopitiam

What say you?
My opinion?
If the restaurant did not put HALAL sign, why you go and eat there? Find some other restaurant with Halal sign lah!

Being a Gemini.
This is like… the turning point of my life. Again. I found myself in a dilemma. AGAIN.
Sigh…
Sometimes, I do feel like I’m a true Gemini.
Quoted from here.
“General behavior:
Gemini (the twins) is a very complex and confusing sign. To some people you can seem like a wonderful friend, while to others you will seem two-faced and sneaky. You will act like a child for most of your life. That includes both the good and bad characteristics of children. You are happy and energetic when things go right for you. However, when things go wrong, you can be passive-aggressive and very mean. You find decisions hard to make, since you can never stay with the one that you originally choose. You tend to fight loosing battles for something that you call a "moral" cause (even though you know it isn't). One quality (you decide whether it's good or bad) you have is the ability to lie and appear that you are telling the complete truth. You prefer to use someone else's solution to a problem than thinking of your own. Many of Gemini's poorer traits are due to your lack of self-esteem. It is very tough to get your attention. You will be thinking about many things at a time and you can't concentrate on any particular thing at one time. You may be praising somebody but at the same time you will be thinking against him(her). But the most intelligent people on the earth are Geminians.”
When I read those, I thought, “Wow.. It’s so ME.” it’s like… 90% me…
Especially about the lack of self esteem part. Yes. I admit that I have very little self-esteem and I seriously need a very high dose of confident to be pumped in my blood.
It also says that I have the ability to lie and make it like I’m telling the truth. Ok. Let’s just treat it as a good thing.
“You will act like a child for most of your life. That includes both the good and bad characteristics of children” – whoa… this one… I got no comment la.. must ask people around me to certify it.
“You will be thinking about many things at a time and you can't concentrate on any particular thing at one time. You may be praising somebody but at the same time you will be thinking against him(her).” – Sounds like a hypocrite huh? But I guess it’s harmless lah. thinking only ma.. Not DOING against.. (ok lah.. maybe I’m hypocritical at times… hey, I’m a Gemini lah.. it’s IN me.)
It also says that I’m indecisive. Which I think is very true lor.. My super main weakness is indecisiveness. Which I think is not a very good thing in the long run. But this trait followed me for as long as 23 years. I think it’s very hard to get rid of it. I think this leads to being hypocritical lor..
Anyway, I’ve been talking to Smelly these few days. Like.. Serious talk, you know.. turns out he thinks that I’m not mature enough when it comes to facing the society. He thinks that I’m too weak. Too soft hearted. Easily bullied by other people… which I think is only half true (or maybe he’s right about that. I don’t know). He wants me to be more aggressive, something that I doubt I can achieve. But I’m trying my best la.. just that sometimes, it’s really hard to be unsympathetic towards certain issue.
I certainly don’t blame Smelly thinking that way cos I naturally portrayed myself as The Weaker One not only in our relationship, in friendship as well. I guess I prefer trying my best to please people around me rather than being The Bossy One or The Annoying One. Usually, I’ll just try to agree on whatever they say and oblige to whatever they ask me to do… of course, if it’s logic, I’ll accommodate them la… if I think that it’s not reasonable, I’ll try my luck to disagree politely and shut up/give up if they counter again. Even though sometimes, if I really don’t disagree on something, I’ll counter them back as much as I could and try my best to have the last word. But I don’t usually do that cos what comes out from my mouth might hurt them. I can be very very mean if I wanted to. So normally, to avoid any unwanted misunderstandings, I’ll just keep quiet. I envy people with high confidence. And most of the times, if not often, I feel intimidated by the good trait of theirs. I feel small when I’m with them. Maybe this is why people tend to bully me. Maybe this is why I always give in during arguments.
A lot of times, people take my silence for granted. More often, they will take chances to use me… as a friend, I don’t mind being used (to certain extend) la… but then I seriously think that sometimes, they went overboard and totally ignoring the fact that I too, have a feeling. Being in silence doesn’t mean being stupid lor.
Like I said earlier, I can be a very mean person. If I can be super nice to you, I also can be awfully mean to you lor. Just that 99% of the time, I chose to become The Good Twin.

which one?
*updated*
ok.. i showed Smelly the SE K850i yesterday and he told me that the real phone sucked. the keypad color will wear off and it's definitely a failure product!
no wonder i can't find this model in their US website! so i guess LG Q is my only choice huh?? anyone got better recommendation?
i seriously need a new phone. i can sense that the backup phone that i'm currently using is getting more and more emo. wtf..
i found some phone models on the net... which i really really like!
LG KS360 (LG Q)
i tell you... i'm in love with this phone!!! (of course because it has RED) it has QWERTY keypad, it looked very cute AND it has touchscreen... i know touchscreen is useless la.. but it's very easy to type message! very cute... with its round design.. can sms like IM. and i can IM with it too! i like! BUT.. only 2megapixel camera and cannot focus geh... NO FLASH, no 3G. but then considering the price they're offering (RM699, maybe lower now), i think it's like that lor.. cannot complain. of course, it's damn shyiokk if this LG Q has 5mp camera with xenon flash and 3G like SE K850i... or lagi best if SE 850i have qwerty keyboard!!! hahaha! siao!
sei mou... phone that is perfect (SE K850i) is sure very expensive... and cheap LG Q doesn't have the core thing that i want which is, obviously, high megapixel camera with flash... ugh!
how? tell me how lah?
it comes in pink too. sweet right?

i noticed that i can eat the same thing everyday without getting bored of it.
i can eat the same sandwich every single day... ham sandwich.
i remember eating instant noodle every day. either during tea time or for supper. i just HAVE to have it.
i can eat the same dish every day.. this usually happens during Chinese New year. you know the dish where there dump all the leftover meat like duck, siew yoke and chicken, into a big pot with "kai choy" (i don't know what they call it in english) with dried chili & asam soup.. you know that dish? sour and spicy soup. yum! it's very delicious especially after 2-3 days you keep adding more leftover meat in it.. i can eat that, and ONLY that, with rice. every single day if possible.
is it just me or everyone else is like that too?
but then again..
i also noticed that after a period of time i eat the same thing every single day, i will switch to another type of food and eat it every single day again for another few weeks or months.
does this reflect my personality when it comes to friendship & relationship as well?
i think it does..
i can see the SAME friend every day.. hang out at the SAME place every time and talk about the SAME thing too.. of course.. without getting bored at all.
i can see Smelly EVERY SINGLE DAY and still feel like it's only the first time we hold hands. well, the good thing is, i have not get bored with Smelly.. not yet. (will i ever?)
every time i discovered something different, i'll be hooked for a very LONG period of time before switching it to something else again. and i can also always go back to it any time i want, forgetting that i've once got bored with it, with a whole new feeling.
just like the feeling i have for instant noodles lately.
i used to eat curry flavor and got bored with it and switch to chicken flavor. i remember the times when i rather not eat because only curry flavor left at home. i banned curry flavor. i think because i ate at mamak and it tasted like noodles with water.. but lately, i fell in love with curry flavor again.. i've been craving for curry flavor instant noodles for days now..
where's my curry flavor? Maggi Mee?
